Happy Launch Day!
Welcome to the Entrepreneur section of the POSH blog. It is my goal to get you inspired enough to take the actions you have been dreaming of taking but maybe haven’t started, or to encourage you to keep going with your current pursuits.
I want to start off by emphasizing that most often our only true limitation is our thinking. I hear people say all the time that they would do x if they only had enough money or pursue y if they only had enough time… You can fill in the blanks with a plethora of excuses. While these excuses may be grounded in societal norms, they are not they only way. There is often a solution and more often multiple solutions to get to your goal. So- the first step in having the mindset of an EntrePOSHneur includes having your goal in mind and dropping all excusing and limiting beliefs of why you can’t get there. This is absolutely necessary. A wise man once said something to the degree of ‘whether you think you will fail or succeed, you are right’. This butchered quote speaks more to mindset than anything else and a can-do attitude is imperative if you want to live the life of your dreams and create your life the way you want it to be.
This section of the blog will not deal solely with business ventures, though those will be discussed later. Being a true entrepreneur consists of creating your life the way you see fit. Some aspects such as people, places and things will be out of our control. The two big things that we do have control over however are our own thoughts and our own actions and those are what this section will focus on….
So- as a beginning exercise: take out a piece of paper… the old fashion kind and a pen. Divide the paper into two columns. Now, hand write your goal/s down in the first column. We will talk more about defining these later but for now write down the most important ones you can think of. Now in the second column, write down what thoughts tell you you can’t do it. We are looking for the lies and excuses that you tell yourself, the ones that are getting in the way of your success. Try to get to the root of these fears to see what ultimately is holding you back.
- Goal: Open a boutique.
- Holding me back: not enough money, not enough time, not enough experience, etc.
- Root of excuses: fear and lack of creative thinking/ black and white thinking; lack of trust in self’s abilities
If you really want something, you CAN make it happen. First, let’s get the goal in mind and look at what is getting in your way. We will look at what to do with this later.
For now keep reading and thanks for checking out the EntrePOSHneur section of the blog!
